After much preparation, I participated in my first ever triathlon. It was very exciting and nerve-wracking. I had a bit of a panic attack once I was in the water and seriously considered turning around and swimming back to shore. However, nobody else was swimming back to shore so I decided I best continue. I ended up swimming from one canoe to the next and holding on for dear life until I had the courage to continue. It wasn't the most efficient swim ever. The Danskin is a sprint triathlon: 800m swim, 12.5 mile bike, 5K run. By the end of the race, I was having the time of my life and couldn't wait for the Tri for the Cure in July! My granddaddy Dick had passed away in June, so I did the race in honor of him! The "4GDD" written on my leg stands for "For Grand Daddy Dick".
