Blizzard, Part 2

Dad, Mom and David came for a visit after Christmas and before New Years. We received a lot of snow and decided to walk to Wash Park, which is just less than a mile from our house. The scenery was beautiful! The only thing preventing us from having a better time: Clay...we missed you!!

Blizzard, Part 1

Record snowfall and no where to go...so Jason and I hiked over to Wash Park with Astro! Astro had a blast! There were no cars out and tons of people just walking the streets! I felt like it was 1900! That evening, Astro was quite tired and didn't mind being buried under all of our pillows!

Tri To Make a Difference, Amarillo, 2006

Jason and I participated in the 1st annual Tri to Make a Difference, which Judy (Briggs) and Barry Lynch organized. It was a lot of fun!! Mom and Dad came out to cheer us on. Jason was a brave soul swimming in the open water after not swimming in over a year! The water was a lovely shade of green and actually a bit rough. This Tri is held every September and benefits Children's Miracle Network.

Danskin Triathlon 2006

After much preparation, I participated in my first ever triathlon. It was very exciting and nerve-wracking. I had a bit of a panic attack once I was in the water and seriously considered turning around and swimming back to shore. However, nobody else was swimming back to shore so I decided I best continue. I ended up swimming from one canoe to the next and holding on for dear life until I had the courage to continue. It wasn't the most efficient swim ever. The Danskin is a sprint triathlon: 800m swim, 12.5 mile bike, 5K run. By the end of the race, I was having the time of my life and couldn't wait for the Tri for the Cure in July! My granddaddy Dick had passed away in June, so I did the race in honor of him! The "4GDD" written on my leg stands for "For Grand Daddy Dick".

Our First Hike in 2006

Jason and I were able to hike Mt Falcon. At the top, there is a lovely view of Denver. On our way back down, we saw several deer!
